Riotous behavior in Oxford in 1987 a student at Eton "Bullingdon Club" who was one of the gang of young males causing criminal damage:

"At some point after the dinner, the group walked through Oxford when one (thought to be Fergusson, though exact recollections differ) threw a plant pot through the window of a restaurant.

The burglar alarm was activated and police descended with sniffer dogs. Six of the group were collared and spent the night at Cowley police station before being released without charge.

This man David Cameron is deluded on the day he decides to talk about public services you have Southampton Public service workers on strike because the Torie council 5.5% pay cuts by fire and hire on crap contracts.
There is the threat of over 700 care homes which were privatized and have now gone bust due to lack of profit. With all those vulnerable people left to worry about where they will live and who will look after them.
Oh yes, and then there is the issue that one man's media empire in this country is running the governments through intimidation that they have hacked murdered kids phones to get stories at the cost of the poor families and relatives emotion upset. They bribe the police and hack medical records of the PM and MP's.
If David wants to put the power back in our hands then give us all the money the banks stole, the government is stealing, and the energy companies/supermarkets are stealing and protect us from these money grabbing people who can asset strip our land and stick it in an offshore banks!

So Former News of the World (NoW) editor and former Communications officer to the current PM, Andy Coulson is arrested and bailed today, but nobody seems to be asking the question about what this man did when he worked for the current PM? What sort of information was he providing and how was he getting it?

We know that on the 20th of June "David Cameron, Ed Miliband and Co flock to pay homage at Rupert Murdoch's summer party" as quoted in the Guardian.

Once again it seems to be the rich and powerful people living off each other regardless of any moral code or care for the law. The PM says a full investigation will be done, but I bet it will stop at No. 10's welcome rug. There is still no trust in politicians and as every rock of lies and cover-ups is turned over you will see more politicians with dirty hands!

In some ways the News of the World became the sick mirror of powers that have been in charge of this land and doing the same sick behaviors in pursuit of more and more power.

Yes it is official David Cameron has a new job working for the multinational companies EDF Energy, Areva and Westinghouse as PR man rather than PM!
Leaked internal emails quote:

"This has the potential to set the nuclear industry back globally," wrote one official at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), whose name has been redacted. "We need to ensure the anti-nuclear chaps and chapesses do not gain ground on this. We need to occupy the territory and hold it. We really need to show the safety of nuclear."

Nuclear power and the Companies behind them are not interested in Green energy, They not interested environmental impacts, They no interested in the British Public's safety, No they are interested in profit!

Public service workers are overpaid?

The richest 1 per cent of the UK population take home more money every year than the total pay bill for the NHS, schools and local government put together. The majority of public service workers earn less than £22,000 a year, and 20 per cent of them – more than 1.5million in total – earn less than £7 an hour. Since 1997 public sector pay has risen less than private sector pay, and for the past few years public sector pay deals have been below inflation.

A report from the Office for National Statistics confirmed that the main reason public sector pay appeared to rise faster than private sector pay last year is that salaries paid by bailed-out banks that are now classed as public sector and included in the figures!

The Truth: Last week Chris Huhne, the climate and energy secretary, made clear that the coalition would not extend the scheme and such early adopters would have to be content with the "warm glow of being pioneers." - The Guardian today.

The Promise: Lib Dems and Tories promised before the election to make it a criminal offence to possess, or bring into the country, illegal timber. Campaigners say such legal measures are necessary to help curb the 350m-650m square meters of forest that is illegally logged every year – possibly as much as 40% of the total market.

Today in the UK Political and Business forest saw Stephen Green step down from HSBC to become a Tory government trade minister and Bob Diamond to become chief executive of Barclays both from the riches of the UK bank sector (remember the UK Banking sector that the Public Tax Payer bailed out!) while HM Revenue & Customs is simultaneously trying to recover £2bn that was underpaid in the past two tax years from the 6 million loyal subjects of the UK.(The same Public Tax Payers!)

At the same time we have Eric Pickles the Public services executioner has been ending the local government spending watchdog. All this happening with the Tobin (Robin Hood) tax no where in sight on the banks. Robbing the poor and the public sector services to fund the phone hacker\Sir Hiss and ex-banker MPS seems to be the future!

Once again we see a political party swayed by a donor. The pressure that Andrew Cook the chairman of the engineering firm William Cook Holdings placed on the Conservative business minister Mark Prisk in May to warn that an £80m state loan to Sheffield Forgemasters might be illegal under EU law. Andrew Cook – the Tories' largest donor in Yorkshire, who subsidised David Cameron's flights in opposition to the tune of £54,000. In an email to Prisk on 25 May, three weeks before the loan was cancelled, Cook, chairman of the engineering firm William Cook Holdings, said: "I stress that Sheffield Forgemasters is not a competitor of my business." But in a statement issued today in response to the release of his email, he admitted that he had tried to establish a direct link with the company. "It is no surprise that I am strongly opposed to the previous government's handout to Forgemasters, particularly when I had already offered as a local businessman to help supply the funding they needed," he said. "My only intention was to highlight the illegal use of taxpayers' money by the previous Labour government."

Revelations from an EDF insider : EPR reactor prone to major nuclear accident risk!

The French Network for Nuclear Phase-out (Réseau "Sortir du nucléaire") reveals confidential documents disclosed by an anonymous insider from EDF (Electricité de France, the main French power utility). These documents show that the design of the EPR presents a serious risk of a major nuclear accident - a risk deliberately taken by EDF to increase its profitability. Because it is potentially vulnerable to a situation which could have uncontrollable consequences, the EPR reactor is extremely dangerous.

"Sortir du nucléaire" has set up a group of experts to analyse these recently received documents thoroughly. Here are the first lessons we can learn from them, which are of the utmost importance.

Some operating modes could cause the EPR reactor to explode because of a control rod cluster ejection accident (these control rod clusters moderate the nuclear reaction). These operating modes are mainly related to an objective of economic efficiency, requiring the power of the reactor to adapt to electricity demand. Thus, in order to find a hypothetical economic justification for the EPR, its designers chose to take the very real risk of a major nuclear accident. Moreover, most of the arguments given in favour of the EPR (power, efficiency, waste reduction and safety) have been proved to be false.

EDF and Areva (the leader of the French nuclear industry) have tried to find a solution to the problems related to the operating mode of the reactor: these efforts have failed preventing those kinds of accidents. The French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) has apparently been kept in the dark about these issues.

So the EPR reactor design seems to increase the risk of a Chernobyl-type accident, which would lead to the destruction of the confinement and mass dispersion of radionuclides in the atmosphere.

On March 8th and 9th, Paris hosts an international meeting to encourage 65 countries to acquire nuclear technology. This meeting will be opened by the French President Nicolas Sarkozy and chaired by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Yukiya Amano. It is outrageous that France keeps on promoting nuclear power in general and the EPR reactor in particular, as the danger of this reactor has now been demonstrated. The construction of the EPR in Finland, France and China must be stopped immediately, and the planned project in Penly (France) cancelled. The best way to prevent nuclear accidents is indeed to phase out nuclear power and go for renewable energies.

The accident scenario in detail:

According to calculations by EDF and Areva, the reactor’s RIP (Instant Return to Power) control mode and the control rod cluster configuration can induce a rod ejection accident during low-power operation, and lead to the rupture of the control rod drive casing (i). This rupture would cause the coolant to leak outside the nuclear reactor vessel. Such a loss of coolant accident (LOCA - a very serious type of nuclear accident) would damage a large number of fuel rods by heating fuel pellets and claddings (ii), and thus cause the release of highly radioactive steam into the containment. So there is a great risk of a criticality accident resulting in an explosion (iii), the reactor power being increased in an extremely brutal way. Following the ejection of control rod clusters during low-power operation, the reactor emergency shutdown may fail (iv). Whatever the configuration of the control rod clusters, a rod ejection accident induces a high rate of broken fuel rods and therefore a high risk of a criticality accident (v).

Thames Water has successfully been using human toilet waste to make electricity for the past decade.

The question is why are we not investing in this technology instead of nuclear power stations?

Another year and what have we done?

Well pretty much nothing from the so called world leaders. The Copenhagen deal flopped and all the participators left to fire up their think tanks to come up with an excuse! The BBC did an eight reasons why it floundered Click Here.

Denmark went heavy handed into protesters some of which are still behind bars as I write this. The feeling I got was that none of the so called big players wanted to rock the boat during a time of recession and the small players where omitted a voice by a strange and rather rude Denmark government - "Even before the summit began, his office put forward a draft political declaration to a select group of "important countries" - thereby annoying every country not on the list, including most of the ones that feel seriously threatened by climate impacts."

Barack Obama seemed out of his depth on this one and played only a cameo role at the end which diluted the impact of a world congess.

I can not help feeling that until Mother Nature herself turns up and causes a disaster on a scale that wipes out half of the western world people will still go on thinking we have all the time in the world!

Unison working with Green Alliance

Really excited about the fact that Unison and TUC have taken the step of working together with Green Alliance on a new booklet about trade unions and climate change Called "Working on Change" which can be downloaded from the Green Alliance website!

What is key from the union perspective and I believe to be key for moving forward is that I quote "It is essential to focus on creating the industries and jobs that will succeed in the low carbon economy" this is vital if we are to address the public sector in a rational way. What is clear is that the UK needs to be proactive. We can not allow jobs and work to slip away in its current guise in the name of climate change to be done by other countries implementing Green jobs to meet the market or demand sited in the heading "ensuring a just transition"

However I find it hard to agree with Paul Noon from the Union Prospect on the issues of Nuclear. I agree that nuclear generation should not be considered as an alternative to renewables but to go on and advocate that the UK throw its self willingly in to building more stations is not an answer to climate change it is creating a ticking time bomb for climate destruction and toxic waste management for the future! Nuclear is not an answer it is a loaded gun waiting to go off. It is no surpise that the Nuclear companies operating in the UK have forced the government to shelf wind farm production

"This bare conflict between nuclear and renewables, facilitated by the government, but perpetuated by companies like EDF and EON, is now becoming ever more apparent. For example, nuclear utility EDF has been campaigning for the UK to reduce its renewable energy target, which the company claims will constrain nuclear development." - Stop climate chaos

I hope the Government and the Union Prospect will re-think this area and work for a future with out Nuclear.

What is needed is for all public sectors and private sectors to take ownership of the responsibility of green investment for the future. Laws are coming in that will nudge but may not bite, and while it is important that they are enforced willing participation is the key to change for climates sake.

Green Wash by UK MPs and EDF

Is any body else worried about the Green Washing that is being done by this government and the company EDF? I was appalled at the comments printed in UNISON Active (The magazine for activists in Yorkshire and Humberside) that has an article on Hilary Benn talking about safe nuclear energy, like it is some Green initiative! I have booed this man twice at the Leeds Town Hall for these same comments, and for reference he is not a patch on his father, as Tony publicised on his web site the mistakes he made believing in nuclear power:
“I was told, believed and argued publicly that civil nuclear power was cheap, safe and peaceful and it was only later that I learned that this was all untrue since, if the full cost of development and the cost of storing long-term nuclear waste is included in the calculations nuclear power is three times the cost of coal when the pits were being closed on economic grounds.
Nuclear power is certainly not safe as we know from accidents at Windscale (now renamed Sellafield), from Three Mile Island in America and Chernobyl in the Ukraine, dangers which the authorities have always been determined to downplay.
Nor are Britain's civil nuclear power stations peaceful as for many years, and still possibly today, the plutonium they produce was sent to fuel the American nuclear weapons programme, making them into - what were in effect - bomb factories.
At no stage, as a minister, could I rely on being told the truth either by the Industry itself or by my own civil servants who may or may not have known it themselves.
Some dramatic examples of misinformation which made a deep impression on me converted me from being a supporter to a very strong opponent of the whole nuclear power programme.
Once, in Japan, a Japanese minister asked me how we were getting on with the task of clearing up the fire at Windscale years before, of which I was wholly unaware.

As for EDF Energy the so called first sustainability partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, announces the inaugural Green Britain Day, taking place on 10 July 2009. In 2009, EDF Energy took control of the UK nuclear generator, British Energy, buying share capital from the government. This made EDF Energy the UK's largest generator, as well as the largest distribution network operator. There is nothing Green about nuclear it is a disaster and a very long term mess that is being left behind.
Let us also not forget that Andrew Brown (Gordon’s brother) just happens to be Head of Media Relations in the UK for the French-owned utility company EDF Energy since 2004.
